Mozart and Muffins

About Mozart and Muffins

The most recent addition to our stable has been our Mozart and Muffins series. Now entering its fourth year, we deliver a series of interactive sessions aimed at engaging with and enthusing the very youngest amongst us. Whether it is on strings, woodwind, brass or percussion, babies, toddlers and parents alike enjoy a noisy but high-quality hour safe in the surroundings of the historic Guildhall on the High Street.

The short sessions feature carefully chosen music in bite-sized chunks, delivered by top-flight professional musicans, while parents, grandparents and carers can enjoy tea, coffee and a muffin, all included in the ticket price. There are mini-muffins for the children as well!

The powerful benefis of introcuding very young children to classical music are well documented: according to researchers at King's College University of London, these include the boosting of concerntration and listening skills and the ability to discriminate between sounds. In addition, children who become familiar with classical music when young develop an ability to appreciate a wider range of music later in life.

These sessions have proved very popular.

'We loved it. I recommend to everyone. Nice music, friendly musician who interact with children, some classics but also some nursery rhymes. Children are allowed to move and dance. And the coffee and the muffins are excellent. My little 2.5 years old loved it and wanted more. We’ll come back.'

'What a treat to have such brilliant performances in an intimate venue.. my little ones were transfixed and I had such a lovely time! A nice opportunity to come up and get closer to the instruments and talk with the musicians at the end. Great location on the high street and everyone was really helpful with prams. Good muffins too! Thank you Southern Pro Musica!'
